THE WINNERS OF PRIMARY TIMES SOUTH: STAR AWARDS 2016 - CONGRATULATIONS ALL!

The awards, which are now in their 6th year, champion the best places and best businesses in Munster for families with young children. All the winners have been selected solely by votes from the readers of Primary Times South magazine.

Editor Tara McKeown commented “This year we are seeing a good mix of winners. The well-established attractions such as Fota Wildlife Park continue to be popular with Primary Times readers. However, we also have some brand new winners this year which have clearly impressed our readers. For example, Zipit in Farran Woods won Runner Up place in the Best Outdoor Play Centre, and Laya City Spectacular Cork won the new Family Days Out Event category.”

Primary Times South is a free ‘What’s on and Where to Go’ guide specifically for the families of children aged 0-12 years, and primary school teachers in the region. Established in 2003, the magazine is published 4 times a year (spring, summer, autumn and winter). It has a circulation of 50,000 copies distributed to primary schools and crèches in Cork and Waterford, and selected towns in Kerry and Tipperary. It is also available at libraries and tourist information centres and is available to download free from App stores. Nationally, Primary Times publishes over 140,000 copies in 3 different regions (Munster, Leinster, and Dublin) throughout the Republic of Ireland.

The number of votes and diversity of nominations show that Primary Times South readers clearly feel very passionately about the places they visit with their families. Many of the smaller attractions and businesses in Munster were nominated by readers who they felt offered good service or value for money. The results show that having great places to visit locally is still an important part of family life.
